Targets for the future

For the past three years, hummel has engaged the consultancy firm Viegand Maagøe to assist with the annual climate accounts and the calculations of our GHG emissions. The climate accounts are aligned with The GHG Protocol and used in our annual Company Karma report, which can be found on Thornico’s website.

In spring 2022, we publicly committed to reduce our CO2 emissions through the Science Based Target Initiative and in spring 2023, our targets were finally validated and published on SBTI’s website for everyone to see. Our validated targets are as follows:

”hummel A/S commits to reduce absolute scope 1 and scope 2 GHG emissions 60% by 2031 from a 2021 base year. Hummel A/S also commits to reduce scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services by 55% per purchased item within the same timeframe. Hummel A/S further commits that 33% of its suppliers by spend covering purchased goods and services will have science-based targets by 2026"

  • Scope 1 primarily concerns the GHG emissions from our company fleet and transportation.
  • Scope 2 concerns the GHG emissions from the electricity we use to power our offices, shops, and warehouses
  • Scope 3 is primarily the GHG emissions related to our products: the materials we use, the production processes and the GHG emissions of our suppliers in relation to the manufacturing of our products e.g., the electricity they use.
