hummel launches Football for Change - support for youth social football activities in communities

With the Football for Change program, hummel gives all people including grassroots organisations and clubs the opportunity to apply for funds and products for a social football activity. The only requirement is that activity contributes to increased equality and social development for young people in the community.

Today, hummel opens for applications to their new global support program focusing on youth and football activities. With football as a tool, hummel wants to promote equality and break down the barriers that may exist at the crossroads of gender, culture, religion and race among young people in local communities. For decades, the company has supported charitable Danish and foreign sports activities, but it is the first time that a program is being launched that involves the public in the decision on who will be supported. The program is part of the company's social effort to Change the World Through Sport.

"With Football for Change, we want to support the enthusiasts who use football to spread good karma and unite youth in their communities across gender, culture, religion or race. Everyone can submit an application for support, and everyone can get involved in the vote on our digital platform about who should win, " says Morten Vestberg, Senior Karma & Communication Specialist in hummel.

The program is open to applicants worldwide and the public vote among the nominees can be followed on social media and

The public decides on a winner

hummel has always had a great focus on providing support to those cases and people who find it hard to get traditional support. The company has, for example, supported the Tibetan national football team for men, started a national football league in Afghanistan, and opened football schools for women in Sierra Leone. Football for Change focuses on smaller projects where local role models are supported to create real change in their communities. Out of all applications received a multidisciplinary employee committee at hummel nominates three projects. Hereafter, the public can vote on the nominated projects and a winner is declared.

"Every two months in Football for Change we have a public digital vote to find the winning project. Therefore, it is never too late to submit your initiative. For us, it's great to support the enterprising local activists who, with football, help change the world through sport. At the same time, we can engage all hummel fans in choosing the activity they think deserves support," says Morten Vestberg, Senior Karma & Communication Specialist in hummel.
