hummel and SC Freiburg today announced a new sponsorship agreement - hummel will become the club’s new official kit supplier. The Danish sports- and fashion company and the 2nd division club from the German Black Forest agreed on a long term contract that is effective in both, the 1st and the 2nd German Bundesliga.

„hummel and SC Freiburg are strong, unique brands in their respective fields and we have a lot of common values. Also, hummel had a customized, high quality concept worked out for our collaboration, which convinced us right away”, Oliver Leki, member of the SC Freiburg board, states. Leki continues: “We are very excited about this collaboration, which we expect to be active, creative and rewarding for both hummel and us - and especially also for our amazing fans”

SC Freiburg is well known in Germany for their excellent youth development, which contributes greatly to the teams’ very attractive style of playing. After their unfortunate relegation to Germany’s 2nd division this summer, Freiburg is already well on the way to immediately bounce back to the Bundesliga. With half the season played, they are placed 2nd in the 2nd division.

„We are happy and excited about this partnership with SC Freiburg“, says Jens Binek, CEO of hummel Germany. „With its values and philosophy, the club is a perfect match for our brand. We succeeded to expand our presence in German football over the last years and our strategy is to continue on this path. SC Freiburg is the perfect partner for us to take the next steps with“, Binek continues.

From July on, hummel will be supplying jersey-kits and sportswear to all of SC Freiburg’s football teams. This includes the women-team as well as all youth squads.

About SC Freiburg

Founded in 1904 it wasn’t until 1993 before SC Freiburg first qualified to play in the Bundesliga and from then on started making a name in Germany's top league. Located in a small university town and with relatively little budget SC Freiburg happens to be a natural born underdog. The club managed to preserve its competitive capacity through smart scouting and excellent youth development over many years and even qualified for international competitions several times. After their unfortunate relegation to Germany’s 2nd division last summer, Freiburg is on their best way to immediately bounce back to the Bundesliga. With half a season played they place 2nd in the second division.
